Dedicated to "Sugar Bear"

Long, black leather trenchcoat, softly 'worn' looking. Wooden cane, been used many years, one could tell. The crook of the cane that he held onto was wrapped with thin black leather, as for comfort.
On his hands he wore black leather, fingerless gloves. A brightly colored shirt, old silk. Levis that reached down and partially covered well-worn black boots of some kind. Not western, just round-toed boots.
He wore a mustache, connected to a short cropped beard that rather, stepped it's way down the sides of his jaw line. But the thing most striking, was his long hair that flowed and hung softly down his back, clear beyond his waist. It was shades of dark brown to medium browns and the sunlight had lightened the top layers down to the ends, in what seemed a hundred golden colors.
He walked with a pleasant certainty, as if he were enjoying every step. As I came to know him later, I found he did indeed, enjoy every step.
How could I have known, that a trip to the Salmon Run Mall that evening, in Watertown N.Y, November 17th, 1995, would add such flavor to my life.
